“A strong, company-wide commitment to philanthropy, community service and volunteerism is nearly ubiquitous among recipients” of the 2019 Best Places to Work in Money Management awards, reports Pensions & Investments.
And of those recipients, Income Research + Management is highlighted as one of the firms engaged in philanthropic work. According to Bill O’Malley, CEO of Income Research + Management, “Charity is a big part of our culture.”
IR+ M was recognized for offering paid time off for volunteer work, providing company grants for chosen non-profit organizations, and matching charitable donations. Recurring annual charity activities were also called out: the Week of Giving in late June, when employees across the organization participate at between 20-30 events, and a long-standing relationship with Christmas In The City, where employees provide and wrap toys for underprivileged Boston kids at the holidays.
“We’re finding that [volunteer events are] a good recruiting and retention factor,” he explained, “which helps our investment clients, because the continuity of our employees increases the chance of good returns over the long run.”
