Income Research + Management Named to Pensions & Investments

“Best Places to Work in Money Management” for 5th Consecutive Year

December 14, 2020, Boston MA – Income Research + Management (IR+M), the U.S. fixed income manager with $88 billion in AUM, today is named by Pensions & Investments as one of the Best Places to Work in Money Management. This is the fifth year that IR+M was recognized among companies with 100 – 499 employees, ranking 2nd out of thirty firms in the category.

“We are honored to again be named one of Pensions & Investments’ Best Places to Work,” said Bill O’Malley, CEO and Co-CIO.  “This award is particularly meaningful to us because it recognizes the strength of our culture, which we believe is one of our key differentiators.  At IR+M, we take enormous pride in our camaraderie, compassion, and communication.  These attributes remain ever-present, despite all of us working remotely during the pandemic.”

Pensions & Investments’ annual survey of money managers awards firms is dedicated to identifying and recognizing the best employers and providing organizations with valuable employee feedback. This year, employees were surveyed starting July 24, 2020, providing a unique look into how people working in the money management industry were faring during lockdown.

IR+M transitioned 100% of its employees to working from home in March.  Despite the physical distance, the firm has been intent on preserving its relationships with the community and each other.  In September, IR+M hosted its 7th annual – and first virtual – Week of Giving, with 180 IR+Mers participating in over 10 virtual events, including bingo, boot camp, trivia, a cooking lesson, and biking.  The firm continues to welcome new employees, using a virtual office tour and mentor program to foster connections.  Also, the firm’s flag has been traversing the state, visiting socially distanced gatherings where employees add their signatures to it.  The flag will eventually hang in the office, reminding IR+Mers that, even when they were physically apart, they were always united.  In the Best Places to Work survey, employees reacted positively to IR+M’s increased flexibility and approach to handling the Covid-19 pandemic.

Added O’Malley: “While we miss being together in one location, we know that the strength of our bonds will endure until we return to the office.  In the meantime, we remain focused on protecting what makes us uniquely IR+M – our pervasive spirit and commitment to our clients and each other.”
